Feadship Launches Revolutionary 162-Foot Superyacht Amid Winter Wonderland
Feadship’s New 162-Foot Superyacht
Feadship, the renowned Dutch shipyard, has unveiled its latest creation: the 162-foot (49.5-meter) superyacht known as Project 717, previously referred to as Project Fun.[1] This vessel, launched amid a snowy January day in 2026, combines innovative design elements to maximize space and efficiency, making it feel comparable to much larger megayachts despite its more compact size.[2][3]

Design and Exterior
The exterior, crafted by Jan Schaffers of Studio De Voogt, emphasizes balanced lines that highlight length and volume without appearing stretched.[1] Subtle tweaks like widened shoulders on the sun deck and fold-down bulwarks on the main deck aft create an open, beach-like atmosphere with uninterrupted sea views.[2][1] These bulwarks expand the deck space dramatically, enhancing the sense of openness. The foredeck offers relaxed seating and sun pads, while large hull doors provide access to the tender garage for a 6.2-meter tender.[4][1]
The sun deck stands out as exceptionally large for a yacht of this size, featuring a flybridge with a secondary helm station, forward seating, bar units including a barbecue, a 14-person dining area equipped with ceiling fans, and an aft lounging zone.[3][4][1] Forward on the main deck, there’s a well-proportioned lounging and dining area flanked by large windows for privacy and connection to the outdoors.[1]

Interior and Accommodations
Interiors, designed by Marty Lowe in collaboration with the owner and yard, accommodate up to 10 guests across five staterooms.[3][1] The full-beam owner’s suite (29 feet wide) includes panoramic views, a private study, and a separate dressing area.[3][1] An indoor dining space benefits from full-height windows, and the aft deck features a glass-fronted infinity Jacuzzi/hot tub nestled near another dining area.[3][4][1]
Performance and Specifications
Project 717 is built for long-range cruising with a diesel-electric propulsion system from Feadship’s Advanced Electrical Drive program, utilizing thrusters for propulsion and steering to minimize drag, boost efficiency, and improve maneuverability and comfort.[3][1] Key specs include:

Launch and Ownership
Launched on January 8, 2026, from Feadship’s Aalsmeer facility, the yacht was sold in September 2025 through Feadship’s Resale division to a repeat client.[5][1] It’s currently undergoing final outfitting and will head to the North Sea for sea trials, with delivery expected in spring 2026.[5][1] This marks the fifth Feadship for the original commissioning owner, though it changed hands prior to completion.[3]
